What's your favorite thing about summer?

My favorite thing about summer is the time right at dusk. I love sitting outside on my front step listening to the robin cheeping his good night call. That sound says summer to me. I can think of nothing I love more.
Honestly, it's the girls being home from school these days...even though I whine & complain that school is out too soon. I love that they are home with me, and we find all kinds of funky stuff to do. Some not so funky, too.
I just plain love summer--everything about it.
Thunderstorms included. :-)

My blog entries are automatically imported to facebook, and my son wrote this. I was so touched that he commented on my note, I'm going to share it here.
Music is a big part of summer, isn't it. Hm, I think I just decided on next week's question...
"The first time I listen to the Bouncing Souls.
They're a summer-only band and to break them out for the first time feels awesome.
Note: This happened for Summer 09 today on the way to DeKalb."

Okay, I don't know who the Bouncing Souls are, but I'm glad my boy is feeling the summer!
No set schedule
Not packing lunches
Letting my kids sleep late
Wearing shorts, tank tops, and flip-flops
Feeling the sun on my skin
Cookouts in the backyard
Everyone coming and going at different times
No one saying, "I have a test tomorrow!"
Seeing my sons go off to work in their cute caddy uniforms
. . . and that's just some of it!
I love all the sensory experiences --
The smell of fresh cut grass
Dozing in a lounge chair on my patio in the late afternoon, feeling a warm little breeze ruffle the hair on my forehead
The smell of my dog after he's been in the yard playing in the grass and sun
Pink, purple and peach sunsets
Little sprays of water on my face during a ride on my brother's boat
Sleeping with the windows open and hearing neighbors & kids laughing around fire pits
Cool sheets
and so much more...
