You or "The House"

At Christmas, yes I know it's March, a handful of students collected resources and gave me a $100 gift card to a nearby mall.  I opted to save it, so I'd find myself with an "unexpected" treat come spring.  Now, spring is coming, and I am thinking about how to spend it.

The mall is not one I usually go to.  In other words, there is no TJ Maxx, Marshall's, or Target.  They do have a mix of clothing stores, restaurants, and (sigh) a Crate & Barrel.  Brad has made it clear that the card must be used for something for me personally as in clothing or an accessory or two.
It's true, I rarely buy clothing and such for myself, especially over the last two years or so.  But I am torn...I love Crate and Barrel.  A nice dinner out with Brad would be such a treat, too.

So, my questions of the week:
If this were your card, how would you spend it?
Do you ever have a tough time deciding between fixing up the house and fixing up yourself?

I'd undoubtedly go for Crate & Barrel! I once freaked the staff at Office Depot out by almost buying them out of plastic storage bins. They were on sale at the time but I still spent a couple hundred! I know ... it's a sickness! I love organizing but the bins have taken over the house! At least when Hoarders comes to get me there will be no varmints hiding in the clutter!

I wouldn't have a problem spending the card on myself. Sometimes you have to treat yourself. But I also encourage the hubs to do the same.

PS
I have never been in Crate & Barrel. I've never lived in an area that had one. But I imagine that C&B is for you what Pier 1 is to me.

When I was pregnant, I coveted a Coach diaper bag. I knew it was a waste, so I never considered it beyond the passing fancy.

FF to my being 5 months & in serious need of maternity wear, Matt hit a pretty good score on a horse. He gave me his winnings with the caveat it had to be for the diaper bag. I still use it on trips & such because it is such an awesome bag.

But I admit how hard it was for me to actually buy it, since I kept thinking how badly I needed the clothes, baby furniture, etc., etc., etc...

And I recall in the delight of having the freedom to enjoy being frivolous for the moment!

I wouldn't be able to use it on myself. Not that I think there's something wrong with getting something nice (Lord knows I could use it these days!) but I have a sickness and it's called "This House". Which, if you can believe it, needs more help than I do!

C&B is new to our city and wow - is it expensive! Buying something for the house you can enjoy over and over again! Have fun deciding!

All the time - my husband is like your husband - he would insist that I use it for myself!

I get in moods... sometimes I have my heart on doing something in the house & then I'm all focused & wont stop until I do it... & sometimes, I just NEED new clothes. There are also those times where I want clothes but everything just isnt striking me. Then I'd just go for the dinner :)

Always fun to spend gift certificate money :)

Oh man. I love gift cards because they force me to be sweet to myself.

If it were ME, and I were going to Geneva Commons, I would go to either New York & Company and go crazy in their clearance section (most of my work clothes are NY&Co, because their sizes fit me well, and I like their blend of polished, professional styles with a feminine twist), or go to Anthropologie and drool around the shop (I'm rehabbing an old desk of mine and I'm on the hunt for pretty drawer knobs and a pretty vase to sit on it).

I never buy myself clothes, so it'd be such fun to be forced to do that. Have FUN with it! :)
