Brenda of Chaco Girl bestowed this award on me earlier this week, and I was really touched. She's a new friend of mine who lives in Paraguay. I am constantly stunned by the connections and friendships that exist in my blog world. I'm so busy, this blog is really a lifeline. So it's just plain old fun when I get a little acknowledgment like this.
But, here's one reason why I tend to shy away from such awards...they come with conditions. This one comes with a request to reward other bloggers. I'm not going to do that, so I hope this isn't taken away from me. Instead, I'm going to encourage you to go to my profile. (Click on "View My Complete Profile.") Then scroll down past all the ME stuff, and you will see the list of blogs I read. I have such limited time, I don't follow every blog I come across...so each of these fills me in some way. Check them out, you might like more than one!
Happy Saturday. Savor its many moments of peace and choice.

Friday Favorites Not As Planned
All week, I had been mentally collecting a list of favorite things to share today here today, just simple little pleasures, then I came down the stairs yesterday and saw this out the front window:
Mac's car parked by the curb. Gotta say, that ol' thing is a favorite because it means he's home. For now. He's leaving next weekend for graduate school at LSU. Yep the L is for Louisiana, a mere 15 hour drive away. It's time, he's ready, but we will miss each other. So I'm just going to like that car for a few more days.
Gotta say, I was honored to receive this from a real Southerner (she lives in Georgia). The "rule" of acceptance? I have to determine which character from the play/movie I am most like and why. I had to really think this over. Each character had strengths and each had some really annoying characteristics. That whole gentle but tough thing. I'd have to go with:

Speaking of things southern, my newest and a favorite blog friend "Weezer" gave me an award. Here it is:Gotta say, I was honored to receive this from a real Southerner (she lives in Georgia). M'Lynn Eatenton
She was friendly, funny, loyal, restrained at times, controlling--of others actions and her emotions, and externally well put together. I am all those except the latter. Before you give me any grief, that's not a put down--I don't hang out at a beauty parlor or often wear pearls!
As for my list of little simple pleasure favorites, well I'll save that for next Friday. I'm just holding on to Mac and my friends--blog and in person--for today!

Thanks Kim for the Post Fodder!
My friend Kimberly at consider it pure JOY bestowed this on me today.
I am speechless. "There are no words."
Actually I'm not speechless and there are words, that's a joke I crack myself up with...I once went to a blog I no longer read, and the blogger's title for that day's post was "There Are No Words," and then she wrote about 500 of them. I found that a little twisted but knew better than to point it out by leaving a comment.
Anyway, I digress by explaining something that's only funny to me.
I think I'm overwhelmed by this because I'm one of those people who never wins anything.
But I'm accepting it full-on 'cause writing this post beats the dusting I was just doing.
Apparently this win comes with rules, it's similar to a chain letter but with less dire circumstances.
Here are the rules:
1. Thank the person who gave you this award.
2. Share up to ten things about yourself. Short and sweet.
3. Pass the award along to up to ten bloggers who you have recently discovered and think are fantastic!
4. Contact the bloggers you've picked and let them know about the award. -- of course!!!
I try to play by the rules but you know what Yoda says...or don't you?...
1. Thank you Kimberly!Your blog posts and your comments here often make my day.
2. This one cracks me up. Don't we all blog because we have this penchant for over sharing? Okay, ten:
- I'm not as organized as people think.
- Whenever my husband is gone from the house for a day, I have to clean something out and make a Goodwill run. Today it's my books.
- Last night I dreamed about the Roloffs.
- Tonight I am making scallops even though I'm not sure what a scallop is. I will not be eating them.
- Tomorrow I'm making pralines. I most certainly do know what a praline is. I will be eating them.
- I'd rather look a word up in a real dictionary than use an on-line dictionary.
- I believe just about everyone is smarter than I am.
- I don't own a DVR, can't load a song on my ipod, and have never downloaded a program onto my PC.
- Like Dudley Moore as Arthur said, "Sometimes I think funny things." So, if you see me laughing, and it would seem there's nothing to laugh about, I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing at something no one else would understand--and not because it's highbrow.
- This blog forces me to see the glass as beyond half-full, if I'm going to put something out there, I want it to be something positive, and that is why I keep blogging.
- Agnes at Because I Digress...
- Sheri at Unexpected Bliss
- The girls at Pretty Stinkin' Green (I hope it's okay I called them girls, they are women, but my attitude as I face 50 is--ANYONE may call me girl. Yes, I'm delusional, make that the eleventh bullet point.)
Somewhat organized...
awards,
Good clean fun,
true confession,
Venting I think...
