It IS Me

You all have been so gracious with your support of the frustrating and painful family situation I have found myself in and the privatization of this little blog. Trust me though, I haven't been so innocent in all of this.  On occasion, I pushed back when pushed.  So it was funny when I saw this on facebook yesterday...I sure could see this as God sending me a very clear message!

(Posted on facebook by People of the Second Chance)

I have been praying about this for the five years Brad and I have been married.  The focus of my prayers needs to change to more of me and less of them.  Usually we Christ Followers state that a bit differently, but the timing of this message was spot on.  I must change.

Trust me also, when I share this blog will not become a place where I gripe about step-situations!  That's not my goal at all.

This was one of the verses for our Jesus Calling devotional the day I was deciding what to do with this blog.  I had already hidden it and was thinking of deleting it completely  Again, God's timing is perfect--though we don't always see it that way.

Time to move forward and build up.

Have a lovely Sunday friends!

Off My Game

Like I have game!  (How dated is that expression?)

This week brought the end of the school year, yay!

And, a pretty fierce bronchial cold.  Boo!

It also brought a panini maker (via Amazon.com and UPS) because..."I like sandwiches."
So far, my one panini attempt looked more like Wile E. Coyote after he was smooshed by an Acme truck or looked like me after I slept for about 36 hours straight (almost asked Brad take a picture, my hair was hilarious...)

I don't know if the 36 hour nap was due to the cold or due to my job exhausting me--and me finally giving into that exhaustion.  It's kind of a chicken or egg question.

My summer starts...NOW!

Friends coming to knit today.  I admire their talents so much, and I'll never catch up, but I still  hope to become a:

I'm making an orange bundt cake for them.  Because to knit, we must nosh.

Starting to look for things to make for Mac's party when he comes home mid-July.  These are on my list:

Suffice it to say we won't be making paninis...

In the past four days I've read two books, neither worth mentioning.  Meh to both.

Apparently, I definitely believe in "feeding a cold." I have eaten way too much the past four days.  Eep!  Can't wait to get back on the treadmill.

Yesterday, the cute young doctor on The Doctors said the way to lose more weight is to up one's speed, "Like on the treadmill run at 10 mph!"  Ten?  I barely can make a run at 4 mph.  Slow runners club member, I am, perhaps for life...(And this week I haven't done any running at all.  Can't wait, truly, to get back to it.)
I did not select a shirtless photo for any lustful reasons, it's the first one that I came across that was from a the show's site, not some random blogger's...

Which reminds me. It's that time of year to tell all men, "Just because it's legal for you to go shirtless, doesn't mean it's a good idea."  Thank you.

This came in the mail from Erin at Unrepeatables:
 With a surprise...
Can I tell you how fun it was to lie in bed and snap ring pictures?  They're such fun, she makes them using nail polish.

I'm feeling less fragmented, but I thank Mrs. 4444 for allowing me to make a list of the pieces of my week!

Spring Break Recap--Aren't you dying to know?

I considered copying some facebook pictures from other folks' trips..."Surprise I went out of town!" Then I realized I would be the only one who found this funny.  And while entertaining myself is important, in this case it would be dishonest. Sigh.
Anyway, even though I stayed in A-town for all of break, and even though we didn't go on any Brad and Ellie field trips, I had a great break.
     What I did:
  • Walked 3-5 miles daily, 22 miles total.
  • Went to yoga (just once) and it wore me out.
  • Took a short nap each day--20 minutes tops (one hour on yoga day).
  • Had dinner with good friends.
  • Went on one dinner date with Brad.
  • Read seven books.
  • Knitted and purled--with little success, but some progress.
  • Helped Brad (who has a project going in each room of the house) install a ceiling fan.
  • Cleaned Mac's closet with his long distance permission.  Hello Goodwill!
  • Sewed a pillow!!!!!  (Yes, I finally figured out how to thread my machine.)
  • Started on end of year gifts for my teammates (on said machine).
  • Visualized a sewing spot in our house...
  • Gave blood--just this morning in honor of Vicki.  I miss you.
  • Hugged my husband.
  • Asked him if I hug him too much--he had a good answer!
     What I didn't do:
  • Get a pedicure.  With temps in the 30s-40s, why bother? Saving that treat until we see the 60s (aka sandal weather.)
  • Switch over my seasonal clothing in my closet, same reason.
  • Buy jeans, though I did look on-line.
  • Use my TJ Maxx gift card.  Keeping it handy though.
Monday is back to business, and on Tuesday I start working with a new tutoring student.  So that's two hours of tutoring after school every day once again. I think I was resting up in anticipation of working more. Good thing the days are "getting longer."  Happy Spring!
I'll leave you with photos of Brad painting my "sewing room" and the fan I "helped" install.  Can you say wussy arms?  Elmo arms?

Ever So Shallow El

This summer, on a trip into the Big City, I picked up a Shape magazine to read on the train.  This cream was highly rated by them, and since, well, since I'm not positively ageless, I decided to buy some.  I'm not sure how it's working firming wise, but I like it for moisturizing.
I tend to only (remember to) use it in the mornings, so recently I looked at the label for the directions. Would I be firmer--in certain parts--if I remembered to use it twice a day? (That may not happen, memory being what it is for someone who is, again, not positively ageless...)
     Here's the tube's advice:
Can you read that?  "Apply daily to legs and body or wherever skin needs firming or feels dry."  Huh.  I'm thinking I need the Aveeno folks to come on over and attach a hose to dispense this from my shower.  I'm almost 50, that pretty much describes my whole body 24 hours of each day...
